Atmel today announced that the high-definition AViiVA(r) UM8 12K line scan camera will be available on the market. The AViiVA UM8 provides a more detailed inspection of the multi-camera system with 12,000 pixel resolution, 8 operating at 40 MHz, line speeds of 25,000 lines per second, and a dynamic range of 64 dB. In particular, it meets the requirements of end users who require inspections in a short period of time.

The AViiVA UM8 embeds Atmel's own CCD sensor design and processing expertise per um12288 pixels. The AViiVA UM8 is even more innovative. Its cube design combines the best technology offered by Atmel: higher sensitivity results in a larger dynamic range even at high speeds; simpler includes a simple external correction mode and automatic selection of balanced execution. The design rack is very compact and ensures heat dissipation, and a better sensor provides the precision of flashing, which is an important feature of multi-camera systems. The AViiVA UM8 is the first RoHS-compliant camera to be ported to the full AViiVA family.

The AViiVA UM8 is connected to the camera link structure interface. It includes good acquisition and offset settings, an 8-12bit output mode, a simple external correction mode and an automatic 8-select balance function. This camera is compatible with the speed and power achieved by the full frame available. The concept of the CommCam GUI (the user interface of the painting) and its interstitial system have contributed to the success of the AViiVA line scan camera. It gives the camera an automatic recognition function; it uses a faster and multi-language setup plan; it has an easier storage process; and adds firmware upgrades and dedicated loads.

Production of the AViiVA UM8 will begin in June 2006.
