Seoul Semiconductor Introduces New Flash LED

Seoul Semiconductor, one of the world's 10 largest LED manufacturers, announced that it has introduced a super bright and ultra-small flash LED to replace xenon lamps commonly used in digital cameras or 5 megapixel mobile phone cameras. Seoul Semiconductor's flash LEDs will be used in digital camera flashes from digital camera manufacturers worldwide.

Seoul Semiconductor's new flash LED, the FCW211Z series, features ultra-bright, ultra-small size and long life. The FCW211Z can operate at 2 Amp high currents, reaching 100 feet of candlelight, more than double the brightness of traditional LED flashers.

The small size of the flash LED supports device miniaturization. Suitable for ultra-small products such as mobile phones, digital cameras and video cameras.

Comparison of dimensions between FCW211Z series and xenon lamps

FCW211Z series: 3.5mm wide, 3.0mm long, 0.75 mm high

Xenon lamp: 10.1 mm wide, 4.6 mm long, 3.5 mm high

The FCW211Z series can display moving images and continuous shooting without charging. Traditional xenon lamps do not have these functions. In addition, this series is 2 times longer than traditional xenon lamps.

Byung Hack Lee, head of chip and module at Seoul Semiconductor, said that the performance of traditional LEDs for flash is not the best because of its low brightness. However, with the new FCW211Z series, we can now have better advantages and high quality images than xenon lamps.
