On December 3, Ye Weifu, chairman of Taiwan's LED packaging company Everlight Electronics, said that the company expects LED lighting components and equipment to account for more than 20% of total revenue in 2013 and more than 30% in 2014.
According to Ye Weifu, as consumers' awareness of energy-saving LED lighting continues to grow, the pricing of LED lighting continues to decline, and LED lighting is subsidized by the government in many countries, the global demand for LED lighting will increase significantly in 2014. As prices continue to fall, LED lighting manufacturers should strive to reduce operating costs by maintaining a reasonable inventory level within 30 days.
For LED backlights, Everlight is expected to grow mainly from smartphones, tablets, direct-lit backlights and ultra-high-definition LCD TVs. At present, about 20% of Yiguang's comprehensive revenue comes from LED backlights.
