(IP) Industrial Protection Level Definition

IP (INTERNATIONAL PROTECTION) protection grade is a special industrial protection grade, it classifies electrical appliances according to their dustproof and moisture-proof characteristics. IP protection grade consists of two numbers, the first digit indicates that the appliance is dust-free, preventing The level of intrusion of foreign objects, the second number indicates the moisture proof of the appliance, and the degree of confinement of the waterproof intrusion. The larger the number, the higher the degree of protection. The protection level indicated by the two marked figures is as follows:

Dust level (the first digit indicates)

0: No protection

1: The object with a diameter of 50mm must not completely enter the shell

2: The diameter of 12.5mm objects must not enter the shell completely

3: The vertical surface is sprayed within 60 degrees without harmful effects

4: The 1.0mm diameter object must not enter the shell

5: Do not completely prevent the entry of dust, but the amount of dust entering must not affect the normal operation of the equipment and must not affect safety.

6: No dust enters

Waterproof rating (second digital representation)

0: No protection

1: Dripping in the vertical direction has no harmful effect

2: When the vertical surface of the shell is tilted within 15 degrees, vertical water drops have no harmful effects

3: The diameter of 2.5mm | objects must not enter the shell

4: Splashing water in all directions of the enclosure without harmful effects

5: Spray water in all directions without harmful effects

6: Spray water in all directions in the enclosure without harmful effects

7: Short-term flooding has no effect

8: Continued diving has no effect

Examples are as follows:

IP65 protection class Meaning: Completely dust-proof, spraying water in all directions without harmful effects

IP66 protection class meaning: Completely dust-proof, strong water spray to all directions of the shell has no harmful effect.
