"Safety Edition" Note7 was blown up again, US operators have launched replacement service

Last month, due to battery-related causes of multiple burning and explosion accidents, Samsung has launched a recall plan for Galaxy Note 7 on a global scale (not in China). At the same time, several major US operators, Sprint and Verizon, have AT&T and T-Mobile also had to collectively remove the phone.

At the end of September, Samsung took the lead in the US market with Note 7 equipped with a secure battery, and several major operators resumed sales of the model one after another. However, it is incredible that even a Note 7 that has been replaced with a battery does not cease from a similar combustion explosion.

Earlier this week, a Samsung Note7 smoked spontaneously on a US Southwest Airlines flight. According to The Verge, the Samsung Note7 was a new “secure” machine for owner Brian Green’s replacement at the AT&T store. Currently, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the accident. If it is proved to be a problem with the mobile phone, Samsung will have to make two recalls.

After the accident, Samsung declared: Unless we can get this phone, we cannot confirm that the incident is related to the new Note 7. We are in contact with relevant departments and Southwest Airlines to get this equipment and investigate the reasons. After we conduct a comprehensive inspection of the mobile phone, more information will be announced. Undoubtedly, Samsung’s stance of ignoring oneself once again hurt the hearts of consumers.

However, Samsung will pay a heavy price for this accident. According to news from foreign media, major US telecom operators Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile announced that they will allow users to replace the original Samsung Note7 with other brands or models of handsets in all its stores.

A Verizon spokesman said, "All Verizon consumers who are concerned about the safety of new mobile phones can get back and replace a different model of mobile phone."

This kind of replacement service is very simple, and plainly users can bring Note7 to exchange any mobile phone in the above-mentioned stores. Sprint official said, "If users want to replace more expensive devices than Samsung Note7, you need to pay the difference." This caused the loss to Samsung is incalculable.

Among the above-mentioned major carriers, AT&T , the second largest wireless operator in the United States , has even become even more obscure. According to informed sources, AT&T is considering stopping the sale of all Samsung Note7 smartphones. Bloomberg reports that AT&T is Samsung's third-largest customer. If Samsung's Note7 is once again banned, it will undoubtedly be a detriment to Samsung.

At present, the Korean market is almost the only hope for Note7. According to news from the South Korean media, on the day that Samsung restarted Note7 sales in South Korea, the total sales of Note7 of SK Telecom, KT, LG U+ and other mobile operators exceeded 20,000. However, this is just the case before the iPhone 7 landed in Korea. After the iPhone 7 is officially sold, how many users will stick with Note7? Perhaps Samsung can only hope for the Galaxy S8!
