CoreTech Launches IoT Kit for Fast Sensor Applications

The ARM TechCon conference recently held a series of important news focusing on the security of small IoT devices, but there are a lot of other interesting technical achievements here. From system-on-chip design to software agents for location services, there is a Thunderboard React IoT Sensor to Cloud development kit from Silicon Labs for attendees. One of the eyes is bright. Let us now see what the magical design advantages this development kit brings to IoT devices!

Easily connect sensors and clouds with Bluetooth low energy

The Thunderboard React toolkit from Silicon Labs is designed to help developers build sensor-based IoT devices by streamlining their thinking processes, said Tom Pannell, director of marketing for IoT products at the company. “This is a toolkit that turns design inspiration into reality,” says Pannell. “In addition to the out-of-the-box demo software, the toolkit provides developers with all mobile apps, cloud services and device code. He added.

The sensor-to-cloud Thunderboard React development kit includes software source code for cloud and mobile applications, as well as a battery-powered, multi-sensor demo board. The board comes with a processor with Bluetooth Low Energy technology and a powerful ARMCortex-M4 core for IoT connectivity, as well as open source design files and mobile app software for Android and iOS devices. Developers have free access to all hardware schematics, firmware, mobile apps and cloud software.

The kit makes it easy to test and prototype IoT applications, enabling seamless communication between Thunderboard React and cloud databases with a free mobile app that visualizes collected sensor data or controls the status of LED lights on Thunderboard React hardware. The various components of Thunderboard React can be easily integrated and modified to add a low-power Bluetooth-to-cloud connection to a user's specific application.

The single chip uses the company's low-power EFR32MG multi-protocol wireless SoC, a set of Bluetooth smart wireless modules, plus a complete set of the company's sensor devices, which can serve as both a display platform and a prototype design carrier. Sensor options include infrared and ambient light, digital temperature and humidity detection, Hall magnetic effects and six-axis accelerometers. Its mobile app also provides beacon notifications, allowing user views and single-chip data streams to be sent to the cloud database, as well as remote reading and control via onboard buttons and LEDs. All source code is published on GitHub.
