"Mars Travels" Lands Vive Omnidirectional to Restore Real Mars

It may take some years for humans to land on Mars, but you can now realize your desire to visit the big red planet in the game "Mars Odyssey."

Indie development studio Steel Wool recently released a preview of the game on HTC Vive. Among them, the player's task is to land from the orbital space station to the surface of Mars and perform maintenance on the instrument. The game uses a transmission system combined with Vive's spatial orientation to allow you to stand on Mars and interact with the space agency's classic equipment, such as the Rover.

This experience is not entirely scientific, but it is really designed to let you know about Mars. Therefore, Steel Wool used the space agency's engineering drawings and location information to create a sense of realism. The studio also analyzed the terrain and height maps published by the Space Agency to create a true Martian surface.

The game time of Mars Odyssey is about 20 minutes. The current price after being discounted on Steam is RMB 18 and the full price is RMB 24. However, it is best not to treat it as a game, but as an experience similar to EVEREST VR. Maybe these smaller, more focused products for experience are the focus of VR in the future?

This is the first product that HTC invested 5 million in Steel Wool Studio last month. Earlier this year, the studio also released a strategy game on Vive called "Quartz: Battle for Gate 18".
