Emerging LED lighting technologies characterized by high efficiency, energy saving, green environmental protection and long life are now accelerating, and new technologies and new solutions in applications are also emerging. LED lighting design can be combined with light source characteristics, such as light source directivity, cold light source and color changes, will become the mainstream of the lighting market. In recent years, with the continuous advancement of LED research in material selection, grain processing, and package architecture design technology, a new AC LED technology emerged as the times require, and a new idea has been promoted. 1. Traditional LED lighting technology and its shortcomings

Conventional LEDs are typical low-voltage DC devices. They cannot be used directly under high-voltage AC (AC 100-220V) in our daily lighting. They must be stepped down by a transformer or switching power supply, and then converted to alternating current (AC) to DC ( DC), and then converted into a DC constant current source, can be used for LED light source.

Therefore, there must be a certain space in the LED lamp to place the converter, which is not conducive to the design and miniaturization of the lighting fixture. Moreover, the energy conversion of the system must have a certain amount of loss. When the DC LED is switched between AC and DC, about 15% to 30% of the power is lost, and the system efficiency is difficult to achieve more than 90%. If the LED light source can be directly driven by AC (AC), the system application scheme will be greatly simplified, and the system efficiency will easily reach 90% or more. The existence of the conversion device has caused an important factor in the high cost of the traditional LED lighting products, and has become a bottleneck restricting the life of the LED light source product, and cannot reflect the long life of the LED.

2, AC LED principle and characteristics

2.1 AC LED structure

AC LED is an LED lighting technology that can be directly plugged into 220V (or 110V) AC without the need for AC/DC conversion compared to conventional DC LEDs. The key to the AC LED light source is the special arrangement and combination technology of the LED die during packaging. At the same time, the diode characteristics of the LED PN junction are used as rectification, and multiple die are integrated on a single chip through a semiconductor fabrication process, that is, a high power single. Single power chip LED technology, and a staggered matrix arrangement process to form a bridge circuit, so that the AC current can be bi-directional to achieve illumination. The arrangement of the crystal grains is shown in Figure 1. The left picture shows the AC LED die in a staggered matrix arrangement. The right small picture shows the actual AC LED die arrangement.
