A paper on the latest developments in China's 5G wireless technology trial

Recently, the IMT-2020 (5G) working group released a progress report on 5G wireless technology test. The report pointed out that the performance of 5G key technologies was initially verified, and the test results were basically in line with expectations. As an upstream technology provider, Qorvo has been keeping abreast of industry dynamics and supporting the development of 5G technology with practical actions. Let's take a look at what has been done in the recent 5G wireless technology trials (the following sections are taken from the "5G Wireless Technology Test Progress and Next Steps" published by the IMT-2020 (5G) Working Group).

The 5G technology research and development test planned by the IMT-2020 (5G) working group will be implemented in three steps:

1. Key technology verification (~2016.9): Single point key technology prototype function and performance test.

2. Technical solution verification (2016.6~2017.9): Based on the technical solutions of different vendors, based on the unified frequency and unified specifications, the single-base station performance test and the functions, performance and process tests of the wireless access network and the core network enhancement technology are carried out.

3. System verification (2017.6~2018.10): Carry out networking technology functions and performance tests of 5G system.

Phase I key technical test specification

The first stage tests the completion of each manufacturer

The advancing group has developed a unified key technical test specification that is tested by the manufacturer in its own field or laboratory. The first step has been completed.

Test Results:

1. Huawei, ZTE, Datang, Nokia and Shanghai Bell, Intel completed large-scale antenna performance testing.

2. The large-scale antenna technology test focuses on the performance of users in dense and scattered distribution, horizontal distribution and horizontal + vertical distribution scenarios.

3. Datang test results show that the peak throughput is ~4Gbps@100MHz under the two horizontal test scenarios of user-level distributed distribution and horizontal + vertical dispersion distribution. Compared with the single-user dual-stream peak rate (478Mbps), the gain is more than 8 times. .

4. The correlation of user distribution has a great impact on the performance of MU-MIMO.
