Philips previously said it would cut spending by 800 million euros, and it has announced a layoff of 4,500 last year. Philips CEO FrensvanHouten said that “the identified additional indirect cost reductions will help us mitigate the impact of macroeconomic weakness and changes in pension costing, which will make us a more flexible and innovative company, effective Serving our global customers."
After two consecutive quarters of better-than-expected results, Marriott said in July that Philips is in a "sustainable recovery model," but he did not rule out further steps to cut costs.
