If Petro's predictions come true, an important issue with today's 4G phones may be completely resolved. Under normal circumstances, 3G mobile phone users can still access data after going abroad, but 4G mobile phones are not, because 4G mobile phones purchased in one country are usually not compatible with the 4G frequency of another country.

In an interview at the Mobile World Congress, Petro said that this is exactly what Qualcomm's new product RF360 strives to achieve. Qualcomm hopes to sell this product to mobile phone manufacturers. Petro said in the interview that Qualcomm is solving a problem called "LTE fragmentation".

Petro said: "LTE is the first technology that can exist in different regions of the world. The problem is that the frequencies in different regions are completely different. Band support is one of the important problems we are trying to solve. At present, there are About 40 different frequencies can support LTE. Our chip products support about 40 different bandwidths. It is an important step to achieve the global LTE roaming goal, that is, a device can roam in different regions. "

If Petro's prediction becomes a reality, then in theory, users can use it on the US 4G network after purchasing mobile phones in Europe. But there is still an obstacle to achieving this goal: the mobile network. Various countries also need to reach an agreement on 4G network roaming. At present, if a US user purchases a 4G mobile phone and travels to another country, he will not be able to use the existing number and can only purchase a local 4G SIM card.

At the same time, Petro has made two predictions about the 4G network trend before the end of this year: it will support cheaper mobile phone models; the theoretical data transmission speed of the new generation of 4G mobile phones can reach up to 150Mbps.
