The smart grid is widely regarded as a digital self-healing energy system, delivering electricity or gas generated by energy including renewable energy to consumption points. They can optimize power transmission, promote two-way communication within the grid, support end-user energy management, minimize power interruptions, and deliver only the amount of power needed. Smart Grid Application (HAN)

The ICT (Information and Communication Technology) infrastructure in the home, also known as the Home Network (HAN), enables intelligent management of all digital devices in the home. HAN can use several connection technologies related to specific subsystems in the home system-wired and wireless.

Typical HAN subsystems include PC networks, HVAC systems, and alarm / security systems, as well as new subsystems related to emerging smart grid applications, such as energy management systems, local alternative energy power generation systems (such as photovoltaics), and automotive-grid systems.

The HAN infrastructure can be open and must be connected to the AMI (Automated Metering Infrastructure) and the Internet through a home gateway in order to achieve high-end services.

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (charger) and electric vehicle charging system

Plug-in HEVs or pure EVs use on-board battery chargers to charge high-voltage batteries, so new converters must now be installed in cars. The converter can have different power levels, input voltage and output voltage specifications, but it usually includes a PFC part and a DC / DC part. Smart plug

Smart plug is a system solution for home area network to realize energy management and energy saving.

It allows us to monitor energy consumption and electrical parameters, prevent overloading of the power network, and also enables remote load management via wireless HAN.

Through the home / building RF network, the current, power, energy and other information related to the electrical load connected to the smart plug system is sent to the IEEE-802.15.4 data concentrator.

Power consumption display / power gateway

In the era of focusing on energy consumption optimization and measurement, people need to have a clearer understanding of energy consumption measurement and energy management in their homes. To this end, STMicroelectronics has introduced a system that allows them to detect and manage household energy consumption, and can publish energy consumption data to remote network servers through home automation devices (such as smart sockets). No matter where they are, users can query the energy consumption data on the network server and manage the entire system through the touch panel.
